Why Fingerprint-Based Criminal Record Verification Matters

A name or an ID number alone rarely tells the full story. When hiring staff, renting out property or processing a career application, organisations need confidence that a criminal record check is both accurate and legally sound. Uphando Forensic & HR Services provides criminal record verification and police clearance using AFISwitch biometric fingerprint scanning.

A Legal Requirement
In South Africa, criminal record checks must be verified using digitally captured fingerprints. A biometric process ensures that you meet these legal standards from the outset.

Greater Accuracy
Studies indicate that AFIS fingerprint checks are more than 50% more accurate than checks relying only on name or ID number clearance. This considerably reduces the risk of fraud.

How the Process Works
A Certified Biometric Officer captures the candidate’s demographic information and fingerprints digitally. The candidate must provide a signed consent form with a copy of their ID and present their original ID during capture. The fingerprints and documentation are then submitted to MIE and AFISwitch for verification with the SAPS Criminal Record Centre.

Convenient and Flexible
Our officers can travel to your location, which saves time and limits disruption. The service supports pre-employment enquiries, corporate enquiries, property rental applications and career applications.

Reliable screening protects your people, your property and your reputation.
